Kowalski's face flushed with red, but even so, he was overwhelmed with joy. Earlier that day, he would never have thought of being even normal friends with Julien, but now he had just become his boyfriend and Kowalski felt better than he ever had before.

They continued to lay beside each other and look watch the clouds roll by for a while, but then Kowalski noticed something that got his brain running normally again. The sun was setting and stars where starting to show. Kowalski quickly sat up straight and looked over to Julien who was startled by the sudden movement.

"Koko, what is being of the matter?" Julien asked.

"Wha," Kowalski hesitated for a second as he realized that Julien had already given him a sweet little nick name, but he quickly shook his head and franticly proceeded with the question "What time is it?"

"Umm…I don't know…MAURICE!!!" Julien yelled out.

"Yes your majesy?" Maurice sighed back from the other side of the habitat.

"What is being the time?"

"Uh, it's about 2 minutes to ten."

Kowalski's eyes widened "I'm sorry Julien, I have to go."

"But Kowalski, you can't be leaving yet." Julien replied with puppy dog eyes.

Kowalski leaned over and nuzzled his beak against Julien's forehead, which seemed to be a surprise to both of them. "Don't worry. I'll come back tomorrow, I promise."

"Okay den…see you tomarrow."

Kowalski looked into Julien's eyes and gave him one last smile before hurrying back to the base. Skipper locked all of the entrances at ten and if Kowalski was still out by then, he would be in a massive heap of trouble. Kowalski raced over to the fish bowl that led into the base and slid inside right as it was closing.

Skipper was at the bottom of the ladder with his flippers crossed and a stern look on his face.

"What the hell soldier? You said you wouldn't be long; you've been gone all day! Did you even find the spring?"

"Um-I, well…Yeah, the spring is right h-" Kowalski looked around and realized that he had left it back at Julien's place.

"It's right where? Where were you at all day Kowalski?" Skipper said, becoming impatient.

"I was- I don't…I"

"You know what? I don't even have time for this. Everyone else is trying to get some sleep and I think you just woke up Private." Skipper said as he pointed over to Private whose eyes were wide open and watching them.

"What were you doing Kowalski?" Private asked.

"Never mind it…I'm going to bed." Kowalski muttered as he slowly walked to his bunk.

The following morning, the penguins woke up early and did their usual training exercises without anyone questioning Kowalski's absence the night before. Kowalski guessed they had already all moved on from it because it wasn't all that rare for one of them to be out late.

Kowalski managed to wait until noon until he decided to try and leave.

"Hey, uh, Skipper?"

"Yeah Kowlaski?"

"I, um, am gonna go look for a substitute for that spring…I never found it, but I might be able to find something that will work instead…maybe."

"Alright then."

"Oh, Kowalski," Gamma began as he stood up from his seat at the table "I could come with you today."

"Um…what?" Kowalski asked even though he already knew.

"Remember? Yesterday you asked me if I wanted to go help you look for the spring, but I had to recalibrate and everything. I'm free today, I could come with."

"I, um. Sorry Gamma, I think I'll just go myself."

"But didn't you say t-" Gamma was cut off by the closing of the exit. Kowalski was already gone.

"Hey Robo," Skipper asked from the other side of the room "what the hell was that all about?"

"Um…I honestly have no idea." Gamma responded.

Once again, Kowalski didn't return to the base until late that night, but Skipper let it slide once again. Over the following few days after, Kowalski had been doing the same thing, he just had a new excuse for leaving every time. Even though the team liked the lack of explosions from Kowalski's lab, they became extremely suspicious about where he was going off to each day.

The next morning, Skipper finally decided that he wasn't letting Kowalski leave until he got a real answer. Kowalski gave Skipper another lame excuse for leaving and then quickly set off towards the exit, but Skipper stopped him.

"Hold it Kowalski!"

Kowalski tensed up and thought of making a run for it, but he knew his team would catch up to him fast so he decided to try and talk his way out of it instead.

"Yes Skipper?"

"I'm not letting you set one foot out of this room until you tell me exactly what you have been doing."

"I've…I've just been looking for parts for my inventions."

"Seriously Kowalski? That is the weakest lie I have ever heard. You've been gone all day every day and you haven't brought back a single thing. Now where have you been at? I want the REAL answer."

Kowalski sagged his shoulders and remained silent for a minute. He knew that there was no way out of this one.

"Kowalski?" Skipper said once again, growing impatient.

"I've been…at Julien's place." Kowalski admitted.

"Ringtail's place? What on Earth have you been doing there?"

"I've been with Julien…"

"Like…hanging out with him?"

"Um…yeah…I guess."

"Well…I guess that's not a real problem then…I don't know why you would ever do that, but I don't really have much against you and Ringtail being friends. You should have just told me earlier instead of lying."

"There's more to it than that…we're…we're like…better than friends."

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

"Look…Skipper. Julien and I are…well we're…it's kinda like…Julien is my boyfriend."

The room fell silent. All of the other four penguins stared at Kowalski. Kowalski's face turned bright red and he looked around awkwardly.

"WHAT?!?" Skipper yelled "No, no, no. I will NOT have one of MY soldier be…be DATING that, that, THING! Maybe if you went off and found a less annoying FEMALE lemur I wouldn't care, but not Ringtail." Kowalski's face got even more red and he became extremely afraid that he wouldn't be able to be with Julien anymore. In fact, Kowalski started to let out small sobs and tears began to drip down his face.
"Seriously Kowalski," Skipper continued "I can NOT, I repeat NOT have one of my men going off with other men!…it's just not right for you to b-"

"Skippa?" Private said as he noticed how hurt Kowalski was "Would you just shut it? Can't you see how much Julien obviously means to him? Maybe it's not so bad if Kowalski wants to be with another guy. Anyways, Julien is a lot nicer than Dorris ever was."

Skipper glared at Private, but he began to calm down anyways.
He sighed and then looked up at Kowalski.

"Look…Kowalski. I'm sorry. It-it's just a lot to take in I guess."

"So…you don't care if I'm with him?" Kowalski asked.

"Of course I do, but I can't stop you from doing what you want. I'll just have to deal with it."

"Well thanks…I guess."

"Oh…one question."

"Yeah?"

"Have you and Ringtail…you know…"

"Have we what?"

"…done…'it'?"

"SKIPPER?!? That's an extremely personal question!"

"Well have you?" Rico asked with a sudden interest.

"…yes"

Skipper and Rico broke out into laughter while Kowalski stormed out of the room. Gamma looked over at Private with concern. Private nodded towards the exit that Kowalski had just left from and Gamma ran after Kowalski.

"Kowalski," Gamma said as he caught up with his cousin "Kowalski, are you okay."

Kowalski's face was still bright red.

"No...leave me alone."

"Come on Kowalski. I know Skipper can be an asshole and Rico can be a perv, but you just have to ignore them."

"I wish I could, but I know Skipper is gonna make fun of me forever. He thinks it's so wrong…Do you think its wrong Gamma? Julien and I?"

"Of course not. I don't care what you do; I'm not going to hold it against you. Love is love. If you love the lemur, I'm completely fine with it."

Kowalski took in a deep breath "Thanks Gamma."

"Look," Gamma said as he pointed forward "I see Julien up there. You go on ahead with him and Private and I will talk to Skipper."

Kowalski gave Gamma a little cousin-to-cousin hug and went off to talk to Julien.
The third and final part of my first KoJu story :dummy:
It's a bit long, but I decided one long part would be better than two short ones.

Kowalski an Julien will probably be together in future stories I write even if it's not a KoJu story just because I like to make people and events the are in one story connect to the next story...so it's kinda like on big story in a way =D

This chapter does bring up one question...can penguins blush?...ah, who even cares. It's more fun if they can, screw anatomy.
